Swimmers will normally be aged up to 25 and will be split by ability into training lanes. Training will comprise up to sixteen and a half hours pool training time and two, one hour land sessions each week. The objectives at this level are to further develop training skills, to develop strokes to 400m, build stroke technique, drills, starts and turns and to improve strength and fitness in water and on land. Swimmers in this Squad will take part in the same competitions as Primary and Junior Squads and also National Age Group Meets.
To remain in the Senior Squad swimmer must:
·Swim In the club championships
·Be available for club galas & compete in at least 3 open/development/time trial events a year
·Swim a minimum of 4 sessions a week (3 at the discretion of the Senior Coach).Land training sessions are optional but strongly recommended.
·Complete all sessions attended
·Fill in logbooks that are issued to record their personal development, including short term, mid term and long term goals
The senior squad is dedicated to the development of swimmers of all levels for local to national competitions. All members are treated equally regardless of age and ability.
Edmonton Phoenix Swimming Club is affiliated to the Amateur Swimming Association. and as such is bound by its regulations, code of conduct and ethics.
